About FHS

Who attends FHS/FVS High School?

Futurus High School is a small alternative learning experience for high schoolers, primarily juniors and seniors. Students in the district elect to attend FHS or FVS for the following reasons: small school environment and smaller class sizes, more individualized attention from staff, opportunity to earn more than 3 credits per semester providing the opportunity to be an early or on-time graduate, and more time with teachers when needing additional academic support.

Is FHS/FVS an “alternative” school?

Yes, we fall under the laws regarding ALE schools in WA State. It is also a school of choice where the diploma and transcript do not reference FHS/FVS as an alternative school. Our goal is for 100% of our students to graduate on time and our team is committed to ensuring all students are set-up for academic and personal success. Students are still required to meet the same district and state requirements as those attending Centralia High School (CHS) and we believe all of our students are capable of meeting those expectations. Our district and FHS/FVS team prioritizes students, upholds high expectations, cultivates collaboration, and champions hope for all students.

What is the difference between FHS & FVS?

  • FHS is a hybrid program where students spend time both online working in their APEX classes and also in person for a minimum of ½ day, either attending the morning or afternoon session. This option allows students to access in-person support from teachers and provides an additional point of contact and accountability.
  • FVS is a fully online option with weekly check-ins required with the student’s advisory teacher. Support is still available, but this option provides a little more flexibility and autonomy for students.

What is the environment of FHS?

FHS is a very peaceful school where students become friends, get along, support one another, and build strong relationships with the staff. We maintain an extremely positive school environment where students thrive with the guidance of the staff in a community committed to helping all students succeed and realize their full-potential.

Is transportation provided?

The district provides transportation to/from FHS. Student drop off and pick up at Centralia Middle School students walk to and from FHS. The New Market bus stop (7a.m.) is on the north side of the middle school (Borst Ave.).

Things to remember…

  • We use magic words such as hello, please, you’re welcome, I’m sorry, excuse me, and thank you.
  • We help our students understand how important it is to be and stay organized, respect their belongings and those of others, and to respect their personal space and that of others around them.
  • The most successful students prioritize attendance and consistent communication with FHS/FVS staff.
  • We are a school of choice that caters to students in grades 11-12+ within the district, as well as its surrounding districts. Our fully virtual school, FVS, is for all 9th-12th grade students and has a separate application process.
  • Our mission is to provide all students with the opportunity to realize academic personal success and provide support and options toward graduation and earning their high school diploma.

Again, the vision of our school is to partner with families to help all students achieve academic and personal excellence. We are committed to realizing our vision by prioritizing students, upholding high expectations, championing hope, and cultivating collaboration. We believe all of our students can graduate and choose college and/or career success after graduation.
